President John Dramani Mahama has urged government appointees to exercise their authority with humility, empathy and a strong sense of responsibility, cautioning that positions of power are temporary and must be used to serve the people faithfully.
He delivered the message during his First Anniversary Non-Denominational Thanksgiving Service held at the forecourt of Jubilee House on Wednesday, January 7, emphasising that gratitude should translate into a renewed commitment to ethical governance and national unity.
President Mahama noted that the year ahead would test the patience, discipline and resolve of leaders, while also presenting opportunities to deepen reforms and accelerate national development.
He stressed that leadership is a fleeting trust that must be honoured through selfless service.
“Let us move forward with humility, let us lead with empathy, and let us govern with courage. The year ahead will demand even more from us. It will test our resolve, patience, and discipline,” he stated.
He added, “It will also offer opportunities to deepen the reforms we have started, to accelerate our growth, and to ensure development and progress touch every part of our country. Let us never forget that leadership is stewardship. It is temporary and fleeting. Authority is a fleeting trust held on behalf of the people.”
