Ukraine has extended an invitation to Ghana’s Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa, following concerns about the detention of a Ghanaian captured in a combat zone as a Russian mercenary.

The visit is expected to take place in February 2026.

In a Facebook post, the Minister for Foreign Affairs of Ukraine Andrij Sybiha said Ghanaian diplomats will be granted access to prisoners of war upon their request, in accordance with international humanitarian law.
