Coach Dramani eyes January reinforcement for Hearts of Oak

The Head Coach of Accra Hearts of Oak, Mas-Ud Didi Dramani, has hinted at strengthening his squad when the January transfer window opens, as the Phobians look to address their struggles in front of goal.

According to Coach Dramani, Hearts of Oak’s low scoring output in the first round of the league had become a major concern, making it necessary to reinforce the attacking department to improve their fortunes in the second half of the season.

“We have to recruit some players during the transfer window,” Dramani stated, admitting that the current situation required urgent attention if the club was to remain competitive.

The Hearts coach was speaking after his side’s narrow 1–0 defeat to Medeama SC in their league encounter at Tarkwa last Sunday. The loss once again indicates the Phobians’ difficulty in converting chances, despite putting in a disciplined and competitive performance.

Biggest setback

Dramani, who previously served as a deputy coach of the Black Stars, acknowledged that while his team had shown the ability to create goal-scoring opportunities, their failure to capitalise on them had been their biggest setback this season.

“Absolutely, goalscoring is really a problem,” he admitted. “You saw the chance we had in the first half and the one in the second half. These chances you don’t miss, but we’re still a work in progress,” he stated.

The Hearts boss emphasised that the team needed a more clinical edge in attack, suggesting that the recruitment of proven finishers could significantly boost their performances as the league campaign progressed.
