The Accra Regional Police Command, in collaboration with the Eastern Regional Police Command, has arrested seven members of a notorious highway robbery syndicate believed to be behind a series of violent attacks across the Greater Accra, Eastern and Ashanti regions.
The arrests followed intelligence-led investigations into a robbery incident at Peduase in Aburi on November 29, 2025.
In a press release dated January 10, the police said the alleged ringleader, Kwame Bediako, also known as Star Boy, was arrested at Ablekuma Agape, where a pump-action gun and four BB cartridges were retrieved from his residence.
Police said the syndicate targeted motorists and trailer drivers along major highways, including the Tema Motorway, Achimota Forest Road, Pokuase, Amasaman, Suhum, Nkawkaw and the Juaso to Kumasi stretch.
Investigations further revealed that some of the suspects had previously jumped bail and were linked to earlier robbery cases, including a fatal attack on a driver.
Exhibits retrieved during the operations included firearms, ammunition, machetes, knives, mobile phones and other items suspected to have been stolen.
The Regional Police Command has assured the public of its commitment to tackling criminal activity and urged anyone with relevant information to report to the nearest police station.
