As the NPP is preparing to go to the polls on 31st January, 2026, to elect their flagbearer ahead of the 2028 Presidential Elections, the campaign by the five aspirants keeps getting hotter and hotter as days go by.
It should be put on record that, amongst the Five (5) aspirants, only one is from the Northern part of the country; all the rest are coming from the Southern half.
To begin with, out of the Five (5) Northern Regions namely; Upper East, Upper West, North East, Northern and Savannah, the NPP recorded Zero (0) Parliamentary Seat in two of them; thus – Upper East (15 Constituencies, all went to in favor of the NDC) and Upper West (11 Constituencies, also all went in favor of the NDC).
The remaining three being: Northern, North East, and Savannah have a total of Thirty – One (31) Seats, and the NPP managed to secure just Ten (10) of them with the remaining going to our political opponents, the NDC.
In Northen Region, there are a total of eighteen (18) Constituencies and the NPP won one – third of them, meaning six (6). Here are the names of these MPs and their respective Constituencies.
1) Adam Mohammed Amin – Karaga
2) Dominic Nitiwul – Bimbila
3) Iddrisu Habib – Tolon
4) Sulemana Alhassan Tampuli – Gushegu
5) Matthew Nyindam – Kpandi
6) Hajia Abdul Aziz Fatahiya – Savelegu
Also in the North East Region, out of the Six (6) Constituencies, the NPP managed to break even with the NDC, thus each securing three (3) seats. Here are the names as well as the Constituencies of the NPP MPs in this region.
1) Mustapha Usif – Yagba/Kubori
2) Mahama Tia Abdul Kabiru – Walewale
3) Mumuni Muhammad Nuridern – Nalerigu/Gambaga
Lastly, in the Savannah Region, out of a total of Seven (7) Parliamentary Seats, the NPP won just one, with the remaining Six (6) going into the hands of the NDC. The MP who did the NPP this honor is;
1) Samuel Abu Jinapor – Damango Constituency.
It would interest you to know that all these Ten (10) NPP Members of Parliament have openly declared support for Alhaji Dr Mahamadu Bawumia, the only Northerner amongst the Five (5) aspirants, namely:
1) Kennedy Ohene Agyapong
2) Dr Bryan Acheampong
3) Alhaji Dr Mahamadu Bawumia
4) Dr Osei Yaw Adutwum
5) Ing Kwabena Agyapong
With these facts presented, now Ghanaians, particularly, the NPP Delegates can see for themselves, between NORTHENERS and SOUTHERNERS, the group that is More TRIBALISTIC.
