The much-anticipated Armwrestling Supermatch held on Thursday night in Accra lived up to its billing, delivering high-octane action and thrilling contests as Ghana’s finest armwrestlers battled for supremacy at the Accra Sports Stadium.

The sweep-format competition proved a true test of strength, technique and mental toughness, bringing together elite pullers who dominated continental competitions or won world championship medals in 2025.

In the men’s 60kg category, Daniel Acquah of the Ghana Prisons Service lived up to his reputation. The towering powerhouse, known for both showmanship and strength, remained composed as he unleashed a dominant display to demolish compatriot Henry Otoo, also of the Prisons Service.

Policewoman and 2024 World Champion, Grace Minta, returned from a break to face a stern challenge from Linda Akoma. However, her experience and composure proved decisive as she sealed a convincing 2–0 sweep victory.

The competition remained fiercely contested throughout the night. World silver medallist and immigration officer, Blessed Abeka Nunoo, was pushed to her limits by 2025 Africa’s best female puller, Mabel Yeboah of the Ghana Prisons Service. Mabel’s speed and reflexes proved overwhelming, earning her a stylish 2–1 sweep win.
