During his campaign tour of the Adenta Constituency on Sunday, January 11, 2026, NPP flagbearer hopeful Kennedy Agyapong accused former Vice President Dr Mahamudu Bawumia of failing to campaign for NPP parliamentary candidates in the constituency.

According to Kennedy Agyapong, the Adenta seat was a “traditional NPP seat” but was lost because Dr Bawumia did not campaign for the party’s candidates, allegedly due to the fact that the NDC’s parliamentary candidate, Mohammed Ramadan, is his in-law.

Available records, supported by video and photographic evidence, contradict Kennedy Agyapong’s claims.

First, data shows that the Adenta Constituency is not a traditional NPP seat, as claimed.

Since the constituency was created, six parliamentary elections have been held. The NDC has won the seat four times, while the NPP has won it twice.

Further examination of the records indicates that in the last five elections, the NPP has won the Adenta seat only once, in 2016, while the NDC won the seat in 2008, 2012, 2020 and 2024.

Contrary to Kennedy Agyapong’s assertion, video and photographic evidence show that Dr Bawumia actively campaigned for NPP parliamentary candidates in Adenta during the two elections in which Mohammed Ramadan contested against Yaw Buaben Asamoah in 2020 and Akosua Manu in 2024.

On November 27, 2020, Dr Bawumia campaigned in the Adenta Constituency alongside the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Yaw Buaben Asamoah, urging voters to support President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo and the NPP at campaign events held at the Ashale Botwe Mosque.

Again, on September 6, 2024, Dr Bawumia campaigned for the NPP’s parliamentary candidate, Akosua Manu, during a series of campaign events across the constituency.
