A troubling domestic controversy involving Muhana, a young officer with the Ghana Immigration Service, who has been accused of secretly contracting a second marriage while still legally married to her first husband has taken over social media trends.
According to information gathered, Muhana’s relationship with her first husband dates back to their student days at Walewale Technical Institute, where they met and developed a close bond that continued long after completing school.
Their relationship eventually culminated in marriage after the man performed the required customary rites and paid her dowry, formally recognising her as his wife.
In an effort to support her future, the husband reportedly enrolled Muhana in a shop to learn vocational skills and become financially independent.
With additional support from her brothers, she later gained recruitment into the Ghana Immigration Service and was posted to Walewale, while her husband remained in Accra.
Despite the distance, the marriage was said to be stable. Muhana frequently travelled to Accra to visit her husband, and together they have a five-year-old daughter.
Family relations were reportedly cordial, with the man’s family fully recognised as legitimate in-laws and actively involved in family events and responsibilities.
However, the situation reportedly took a dramatic turn last Monday. As part of his routine, the husband called Muhana early in the morning, but an unfamiliar man answered the phone and claimed she was not around.
Minutes later, Muhana allegedly called back angrily, questioning why her husband was calling so early.
Shortly after, the same man reportedly took over the phone and demanded to know why someone was calling “his wife.”
During the exchange, the husband claimed he overheard Muhana referring to him as her “brother” while speaking to the man. From that moment, all attempts to reach her reportedly failed.
Further inquiries later revealed a shocking development: Muhana had allegedly married another man just three weeks earlier. Even more disturbing, sources claim the second husband was unaware that she was already married and had a five-year-old child with a man living in Accra.
When confronted, Muhana’s mother initially denied any knowledge of the marriage.
She apparently acknowledged that the wedding ceremony did occur after being shown pictures and videos of it, even though she insisted it happened outside the family home.
According to observers, if the second husband had carefully investigated her background before getting married, the incident might have been prevented.
From an Islamic standpoint, it is undesirable to enter into a second marriage without properly dissolving the first, and marriage dissolution follows transparent and legal procedures.
Currently, one woman is supposedly involved in two weddings at the same time due to the situation.
According to reports, the husband in Accra is emotionally distraught and finding it difficult to accept the circumstances.
He apparently rejects compensation as a remedy and maintains that he still loves his wife and wants her back despite the suffering.
Concerns like trust, marital duty, and the psychological effects of betrayal in families and society at large have all been brought up by the episode.
