Serie A side Cagliari are pushing to re-sign Ghanaian midfielder Ibrahim Sulemana as they explore a possible loan move ahead of the new season.

The 21-year-old, born in 2003, previously spent a season with Cagliari before earning a move to Atalanta.

He was sold to the Bergamo-based club in the summer of 2024 for €7.4 million, just a year after Cagliari had signed him for €4 million.

Late in the most recent summer transfer window, Atalanta sent Sulemana on loan to Bologna, with the deal including an option to buy valued at €11 million. However, the Ghanaian midfielder is expected to move again in search of regular playing time, with a loan transfer seen as the most likely option.

Cagliari have initiated contacts with both Atalanta and Bologna as part of efforts to bring the midfielder back to Sardinia. The club is believed to be relying on its strong working relationship with Atalanta to gain an advantage in negotiations.

Despite Cagliari’s interest, competition remains strong. Fellow Serie A sides Parma and Sassuolo are also monitoring Sulemana’s situation as they look to strengthen their midfield options.

Sulemana is under contract with Atalanta until June 30, 2028, and is currently valued at €7 million.
