Mr. Precious Agbenya has strongly criticized what he describes as a poorly scripted propaganda stunt by the opposition New Patriotic Party (NPP), following the circulation of videos showing some NPP women organizers paraded as “kenkey sellers for 10 cedis.”
According to him, the act, allegedly choreographed by Miracle Aboagye, was deliberately designed to mislead the public and unfairly paint the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in a negative light.
He stressed that such theatrics insult the intelligence of Ghanaians and trivialize serious national issues affecting livelihoods.
Mr. Agbenya argued that the stunt is a desperate attempt to distract from the tangible efforts being made by President John Dramani Mahama and the NDC to address cost of living. He noted that Mahama’s track record and current policy proposals are centered on economic relief, job creation, and restoring affordability for ordinary citizens, rather than empty publicity gimmicks. “When you lack solutions, you resort to drama,” he stated, adding that no amount of staged street performances can erase the daily economic hardships people have experienced under the NPP.
He further emphasized that Ghanaians are discerning and capable of separating reality from propaganda. According to Mr. Agbenya, the so-called kenkey-selling episode has already failed to achieve its intended purpose and will continue to fail because the electorate is focused on credible leadership and practical solutions, not cheap political drama.
He urged the NPP to engage in issue-based politics and allow the people to judge parties by their records and policies, rather than by what he called “embarrassing and hollow stunts.”
