V/R: Firefighters Avert Fuel Tanker Explosion Along Nyangbo–Tafi Mador Road

Personnel of the Ghana National Fire Service (GNFS) have averted a fuel tanker explosion along the Nyangbo–Tafi Mador road in the Volta Region following an accident on Tuesday.

The Service reports that the tanker travelling from Accra to Yendi overturned, causing fuel spillage.

The driver of the truck suffered minor injuries and was taken to Margaret Marquat Hospital in Kpando.

Responding to the incident firefighters from Anfoega and Kpando Fire Stations secured the scene, shut down the engine, applied foam, and successfully prevented a possible explosion.

“The tanker was recovered, the area made safe, and the road reopened, with no fatalities recorded,” it reported in a statement issued on January 15, 2026.
