The Chief Executive Officer of the Ghana Shippers Authority (GSA), Prof Ransford Gyampo, is thrilled after having a personal encounter with the King of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II.
He described the encounter as “very personal and private” and a “humbling occasion” as he shared his impression of the Asantehene’s knowledge of national affairs.
Prof Gyampo paid a courtesy visit to the King at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi to solicit support for the completion of the Boankra Project.
“What a humbling occasion! What a wise King! He knows EVERYTHING happening in Ghana!” he wrote on Facebook.
“More surprising was he telling me that he knows me and has been following everything I am doing.”
The Boankra inland project has been neglected by subsequent governments for more than 20 years.
In 2020, former President Nana Ado Dankwa Akufo-Addo cut sod for the commencement of the project, which is expected to increase the movement of goods and services in the country and also facilitate transit trade between Ghana and the landlocked countries such as Burkina Faso, Mali and Niger.
At the time, the project was projected to be completed in 2023.
The ultra-modern integrated logistics terminal consists of a Container Service Yard (CSY), Container Freight Station (CFS), Reefer, Warehouses, Truck Parking Area, Trucker’s Facilities, Fuel Station, Commercial Complex, Freight Forwarders Offices, and facilities for postal, telecommunication, utilities services, among others.
