Laurette Korkor Asante, MP for Atiwa West has lost her mother
The Minority in Parliament has paid tribute to Vida Adwoa Ago Asante, mother of Laurette Korkor Asante, Member of Parliament for Atiwa West, following her passing on January 12, 2026.
This was contained in a statement issued by the Minority Leader, Alexander Kwamina Afenyo-Markin.

” It is with heavy hearts and profound sorrow that the Minority Caucus in Parliament receives the news of the passing of Vida Adwoa Ago Asante, a distinguished matriarch and pillar of strength. She departed this life peacefully on Monday, January 12, 2026, at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital, surrounded by her loving family”, it said.
The Minority Caucus described the late Vida Adwoa Ago Asante as a woman of grace, wisdom and quiet strength.
“She was a woman who understood that true greatness is measured not by personal acclaim, but by the character and contributions of those we raise and inspire,” the statement added.

It further noted that her legacy lives on through the values she instilled in her children and the several lives she touched.
