Media personality and creative industry advocate, Roland Amartey, has shared his assessment of government performance in relation to the creative arts sector, rating it 4 out of 10 while acknowledging notable efforts by key public officials.
According to Roland, the rating is influenced by the fact that the administration is still in its first year, a period he believes should be approached with realistic expectations. Despite the modest score, he singled out Dr. Frank Amoako Hene, the Ashanti Regional Minister, for exceptional performance.
He praised Dr Amoako Hene’s accessibility and hands-on leadership, noting his strong interest in the creative arts industry.
Roland highlighted the Minister’s support for music, film, fashion, and cultural initiatives, particularly the early preparations for AshantiFest. He described the early call for designers and creatives in January as a positive indicator of intentional planning and long-term vision.
Roland also acknowledged the efforts of other appointees, including KOD, stating that while contributions were made in 2025, there is still room for deeper impact moving forward.
He further commended President John Dramani Mahama for showing a positive spirit toward the creative arts, referencing the improved quality of creative expression during the December festive season.
However, he emphasized that sustained action, broader inclusion, and consistent engagement will be key to significantly elevating the industry.
Roland Amartey, a blogger, marketing manager for ride-hailing company Shaxi, and a member of Shatta Wale’s road management team, is widely known for his active involvement in Ghana’s entertainment and creative space.
His commentary reflects both industry experience and grassroots engagement with creatives across music, film, and digital media.
