William Kusi, the lawyer for Akosua Serwaa, the legally married wife of the late Daddy Lumba, has revealed that he has received threats against himself and his family over the ongoing legal dispute between the two partners of the late Highlife legend.

According to a viral video sighted by GhanaWeb Entertainment, Kusi, speaking in an interview with Kumasi-based Orange FM, revealed that he had been receiving threats from some unknown individuals since he took up the case.

Kusi, in the video, mentioned that he has received threats of death against his wife.

“They told me, ‘If you don’t stop the case, we will bring your nude pictures. They’ve threatened to kill my wife if I don’t stop the appeal and all that.

“I said to them, ‘It means that they are aware that the judgment was bad,” he said.

Asked if he was bothered by the threats, Kusi said he is thinking about the safety of his wife.

Asked about the possibility of him dropping out of the case due to the threats, Kusi replied, “Why not? Everything is possible.”

On December 13, 2025, an Accra High Court granted an injunction filed by the maternal family of Daddy Lumba on the funeral, which had been scheduled for December 17.

However, shortly after the injunction was granted, the court ordered the family to provide a sum of GH¢2 million to cover funeral-related costs already incurred.

The family was unable to pay the money, leading to the injunction being lifted and the funeral proceeding as planned.

In reaction, William Kusi described the ruling as illegal and an absurdity.

Kusi said he was expecting reactions from appropriate bodies as such a case would incur international attention and paint a bad light on the country.
