The National Service Authority (NSA) has called on organisations across Ghana to recognise attestation letters issued to National Service Personnel (NSP).
According to a press release issued on Wednesday, January 21, this follows reports that some institutions have declined to accept them, particularly when personnel have not yet received their National Service Certificate or have misplaced it.
NSA management clarified that attestation letters are issued only after confirming an individual’s eligibility and status.
‘Management wishes to clarify that under the operational procedures of the National Service Authority, attestation letters are duly issued to service personnel after the Authority has confirmed the individual’s eligibility and status,” the statement read.
As such, these letters serve as an official confirmation of a person’s national service status and are issued in accordance with the Authority’s mandate to administer, regulate, and manage national service in the country.
“An NSA-issued attestation letter therefore serves as an official confirmation of an NSP national service status and is issued in line with the Authority’s mandate to administer, regulate, and manage national service in Ghana.”
The Authority emphasised that:
- NSA attestation letters are valid official documents;
- They are issued only after thorough verification; and
- They are intended to temporarily serve the same purpose as the National Service Certificate where the certificate is unavailable.
Organisations and stakeholders have been urged to accord full recognition and acceptance to NSA-issued attestation letters.
“All organisations and stakeholders are therefore encouraged to accord full recognition and acceptance to attestation letters issued by the National Service Authority.”
Any institution seeking further verification can contact the Authority through its official channels.
‘Any institution requiring further verification may contact the Authority through its official channels for confirmation,” the statement concluded.
