NPP Aspirants urged to support winner, maintain party unity

The New Patriotic Party (NPP) is holding a crucial event where presidential aspirants are signing a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) pledging to uphold peace and fairness in the upcoming primaries.

Addressing the gathering, Chairman Smith Danquah Buttey emphasized the importance of supporting the eventual winner, stating that each of the five aspirants qualifies to lead the party, but only one will be chosen.

He highlighted the party’s tradition of peaceful succession, citing past examples of successful presidencies. He expressed confidence in the committee overseeing the process and urged stakeholders to be patient, allowing them to complete their work.

Chairman Buttey also appealed to supporters of the aspirants to engage in respectful debate, listen attentively, and prioritize party interests above individual goals.

He commended the committee’s efforts and emphasized the party’s commitment to a free, fair, and transparent process.

The event is seen as a significant step towards ensuring a peaceful and fair contest, with the 2026 NPP presidential primaries scheduled to take place on January 31, 2026.
