The Chamber of Oil Marketing Companies (COMAC) has played down concerns following the self-suspension of one of its members, insisting the development does not weaken the association’s unity or commitment to the petroleum downstream sector.
In a statement issued on Thursday, January 22, COMAC acknowledged the member’s decision, emphasising that it respects the rights of individual companies to make independent choices regarding their participation in the Chamber’s collective initiatives.
“COMAC respects the rights of its members to make independent decisions about their participation in the collective goal of the Chamber,” the statement said.
However, the Chamber stressed that it remains “strong, united, and unwavering” in its mission to represent the collective interests of its members, safeguard consumer interests, and promote sustainable growth within the industry for the ultimate benefit of the public.
The statement further highlighted COMAC’s commitment to encouraging open dialogue and valuing diverse perspectives among its members as it works towards shared objectives.
COMAC also reiterated its dedication to engaging with the industry regulator and other key stakeholders to address challenges affecting policy implementation in the sector.
“We assure the public and our stakeholders that COMAC will consistently operate in line with its established principles and collective decisions, fostering a fair, inclusive, and transparent environment for all members,” the statement concluded.
