The prolonged legal dispute involving the Ghana Actors Guild (GAG) has officially come to an end after nearly eight years, following a judgment delivered on Tuesday, January 20, 2026.
Popular Ghanaian actor and former Vice President of the Guild, Van Vicker, disclosed the outcome in a detailed Facebook post, outlining the court’s ruling, his role in the matter, and the obligations placed upon him going forward.
According to the judgment in the case Abeiku Sagoe and 2 Others v The Ghana Actors Guild and Sammy Fiscian, the court ordered that fresh elections be conducted, with Van Vicker mandated to oversee the process after the compilation of a new register of members in good standing.
Below is Van Vicker’s statement exactly as published on Facebook, presented without alteration:
GAG! ACTION! GAG! ACTION! GAG! ACTION!
My fellow GAG Members,
I delayed this release hoping Sammy Fiscian, Ex Ghana Actors Guild President would release a statement to give us GAG members information about the judgement of his court case and the way forward.
I can delay no longer.
After almost eight years, the Court case of Abeiku Sagoe and 2 Others v The Ghana Actors Guild and Sammy Fiscian came to an end on Tuesday, the 20th day of January 2026.
I am absolutely elated as many of you are, that this matter is over.
At this point I perceive there are more questions than answers, however let me attempt to state certain facts to help clear some ambiguities.
PRE COURT:
1. I registered as the running mate to Mr. Abeiku Sagoe
2. I went through the vetting process and was cleared to contest.
3. I was elected Vice President of The Ghana Actors Guild on April 29, 2017.
4. All elected Executives were sworn into Office.
5. I attended initial meetings as I ought to as the VP.
6. I probed into all necessary issues to ensure we the executives collectively were upholding
the mandate for the office we held.
7. During meetings I realised Fiscian became autonomous.
8. Unequivocally, Fiscian and his Partisans were not amused with my inquiries and
objectiveness and so found ways of sidelining me from being at meetings by giving
extremely short notices or not informing me at all. Hence my perpetual absence at
meetings until the court case arose.
9. If I was not interested in ‘working’ for the Guild I would not have ran for office. I and
others were marginalised and not given the opportunity to contribute and serve.
10. So essentially, Fiscian governed GAG without the presence of 2/3 voted for executives
and resorted to creating committees upon committees of unelected individuals to govern the affairs of GAG. The result? Here we are today.
11. I did not once receive any money from the Guild for any purpose.
12. I did not once sign any cheque of withdrawal for the Guild though I was a signatory.
13. I did not once receive any monies on behalf of the Guild.
14. I did not once enter into any fiscal (monetary) transaction for or on behalf of the Guild.
COURT:
1. I was not directly part of the Plaintiffs who brought the action against Fisian and GAG.
2. No action was brought against me.
3. I did not know the Plaintiffs were filing a suit in court until it was filed.
4. I did go to the court a few times during the hearing of the case.
5. I did not testify as a witness for either party.
6. I regularly asked and got updates on the matter.
7. I was notified on Tuesday, 20th January 2026 of the judgement and the Court’s order.
POST COURT:
1. I am aware of the obligation the Court in its wsidom conferred on me.
2. My obligation is to, as a former executive, be part of the compilation of the Register led by Fisian.
3. Receive the Register of members in good standing from Fisian within 30days.
4. That I should oversee and ensure elections are conducted within 60days of receiving the
Register.
5. I shall carry out my obligation without fear or favour.
6. I am committed to conducting a free and fair election for GAG.
OTHER FACTS/INFO I HAVE SEEN IN PUBLIC CIRCULATION:
The Judge ruled among others that:
• Fiscian ceased to be President of the Guild on 27th April, 2018 and so any action he took from that date was illegal.
• That he and the Executive should compile a register of members within thirty days and hand it over to Van Vicker.
(Meaning, Mr. Sammy Fiscian, Mr. Don Ziggy Netyson, Mr. Francis Dogbe, Hon. Mrs. Kalsum Senary and myself should compile the register — the words in parentheses are mine)
• That Van Vicker should oversee the elections within sixty days.
• That Fiscian should account for all funds to the Plaintiffs.
• That the constitution he and his people wrote is null and void.
• That he was fined 5,000.
ADDITIONAL FACTS/INFO I HAVE SEEN IN PUBLIC:
1. The entire executive committee ceases to hold itself as officers from the 27th April, 2017.
2. Everything undertaken by the executive after the 27th April 2017 is declared null and void.
(which includes me, hence I was hibernating anticipating my prognostication. In other words I refused to carry myself illegally as the VP of GAG between 2017 till now anticipating it would end this way, and that is why GAG saw or heard little of me — the words in parentheses are mine)
3. I am to put together members of the Guild in good standing and hand it over to the vice president within 30 days from now.
4. The executive to present financial accounts of the Guild as well within the 30 days.
5. The vice president is to oversee elections within 60 days.
My fellow GAG Members,
I do not have the mandate to conduct any elections until I receive the Register from Sammy Fiscian within 30days, from Tuesday January 20, 2026. In other words I only have the mandate to conduct elections within 60days after I receive the Register from Fiscian per the Court’s order.
The Executives are not awaiting directives from me the Ex Vice President.
Rather the immediate action is for Sammy Fiscian to convene a meeting of the Executives so we help compile the Register and present financial accounts of the Guild as well within the 30 days.
I am willing and committed to ensure that all ought to be done shall be done transparently with accountability.
I suspire heavily that all members of GAG stay calm, allow the process to proceed and be participatory of the registration exercise.
I am pleased The Ghana Actors Guild can finally restructure and become even more relevant to contribute to national development.
I believe a General Meeting shall be called soon.
God Bless Ghana Actors Guild
God Bless Ghana.
GAG! ACTION!
Thank you.
Van Vicker
