Safo Newman acknowledged Sarkodie for helping ‘hype’ the song

Fast-rising artiste Safo Newman, who made waves with his hit record “Akokoa,” has clarified perception that the song had a remix featuring rapper Sarkodie.

In an interview on YFM Kumasi, Safo Newman explained how Sarkodie became part of the “Akokoa” conversation, saying the rapper was one of the few people who helped promote the record for him.

According to Safo Newman, because Sarkodie joined in promoting the song, an unknown individual took “Akokoa” and added one of Sarkodie’s old rap verses to make it seem like it was an official remix.

“Sarkodie was one of those who joined in hyping the song and someone created a remix version of it with one of Sarkodie’s old raps. Up till now, people think it was an actual remix of the song, so when they see me, they say, ‘This is the guy who did a song with Sarkodie.’ Officially, there was no remix with Sarkodie,” he explained.

Safo Newman also added that no Ghanaian artiste approached him for a remix, noting that many felt the song should be left in its original form.

“No artiste approached me for a remix of ‘Akokoa.’ I think maybe, in their thinking, that song should be kept in its original state. I even met Amerado, and he said he thinks the song should be kept in its original state,” he said.

When asked if he personally considered doing a remix, he responded, “I also have a circle of advisors who suggested I keep it the same way.”
