President John Dramani Mahama has expressed strong optimism that Ghana’s economic resurgence will earn international recognition by the close of 2026, stating that the country’s progress will command widespread admiration across the world.
Addressing guests at the 23rd anniversary and thanksgiving service of First Sky Construction Company on Sunday, January 25, the President said Ghana’s improving economic performance would soon become so evident that the global community would applaud the country’s achievements.
“I am confident that by the end of 2026, Ghana will receive a standing ovation from the world,” President Mahama remarked.
He noted that when his administration assumed office, he believed it would take at least two years to witness clear signs of economic recovery, but developments have unfolded more rapidly than expected.
“In my own estimation, I thought the turnaround would take about two years. But today, we can only say ‘Ebenezer’ for how far the nation has come,” he said.
President Mahama cited improvements in key macroeconomic indicators, including the stabilisation of the cedi and declining inflation, as evidence that Ghana’s economic outlook is strengthening.
“Reducing inflation from 23.8 per cent to 5.4 per cent within a year is no small feat. And for the first time, our cedi has appreciated by 37 per cent in a single year. This, to me, is purely by the grace of God,” he added.
He attributed the swift progress to divine favour and decisive governance, assuring Ghanaians that his administration remains committed to maintaining the momentum of economic recovery.
The President also announced plans to continue organising national thanksgiving events to express gratitude to God for the successes achieved under his leadership and the country’s ongoing development.
