Private legal practitioner Martin Kpebu has raised fresh concerns over the sale of Metro Mass buses, describing the revelations as another example of weak accountability and growing impunity in the management of state assets.
Speaking on The Key Points on January 24, 2026, Kpebu said the disclosures surrounding the unusually low prices at which some buses were sold should not be taken lightly, stressing that such revelations are often the starting point for uncovering wrongdoing.

He questioned how a bus allegedly sold for about GH¢3,000 could later be valued at more than GH¢38,000, even after critical parts like the engine and back axle had been removed.
To him, the figures simply do not add up and for which reason he is demanding a closer look.
According to Kpebu, the real issue is not politics, but accountability.
He insisted that investigators must establish what condition the buses were actually in at the time of sale and what justified such prices.
“This is not about witch-hunting,” he said, explaining that punishing wrongdoing, where proven, would help deter future abuse of public resources.
He further described impunity as the most frustrating part of the problem.
Martin Kpebu also lamented what he said is a culture of political protection across administrations, where accountability is often sacrificed for convenience.
While acknowledging that such practices cut across different governments, he expressed cautious hope that the current government reset agenda would bring change.

He concluded by urging state institutions, including the Office of the Special Prosecutor, to thoroughly investigate the matter, noting that even when direct evidence is hard to come by, patterns of conduct can still justify serious scrutiny.
