Pentecost University is set to host a major international conference aimed at advancing Africa’s green, inclusive and transformational growth agenda, as stakeholders push for stronger alignment between sustainability and digital innovation on the continent.
The 3rd International Conference on Environmental, Social, Governance and Sustainable Development of Africa (ICESDA 2026) will take place from October 21 to 23, 2026, at the Pentecost University Conference Centre in Accra. The event is being organised by Green Communities International, in collaboration with several academic institutions and industry partners.
The conference will be held under the theme “The Africa We Want: Driving Africa’s Green Transformational Inclusive Growth through ESGS and Digital Transformation.”
According to organisers, ICESDA 2026 is designed to serve as a leading continental platform for advancing Environmental, Social, Governance and Sustainability (ESGS) principles, integrated with emerging digital technologies to support Africa’s long-term development goals.
“Africa stands at a pivotal crossroads in its development trajectory. With the world’s youngest population, our continent possesses immense potential for transformational growth,” Green Communities International said in a statement.
It added that the conference would help drive the partnerships, innovations and policy frameworks required to realise Agenda 2063, the African Union’s long-term vision for inclusive and sustainable development.
“ICESDA 2026 will serve as a catalyst for the partnerships, innovations, and policy frameworks needed to realise the vision of ‘The Africa We Want’ as articulated in Agenda 2063,” the organisation noted, while commending Pentecost University for its commitment to sustainability and ethical leadership.
The three-day hybrid conference will bring together policymakers, academics, business leaders, technology innovators and civil society actors from across Africa and beyond to explore practical strategies for sustainable development.
Discussions will focus on the intersection of green growth and digital transformation, with participants examining how technology can be leveraged to address climate challenges, promote good governance and accelerate inclusive economic growth.
The programme will feature keynote addresses, scholarly research presentations, practitioner sessions, panel discussions, doctoral workshops, technology exhibitions and networking opportunities. Participants will be able to attend either in person or virtually.
Pentecost University said its focus on transformational education and sustainability aligns with the objectives of ICESDA 2026, making it a fitting host for the event.
ICESDA 2026 is being organised in collaboration with a wide range of institutions, including KNUST, GIMPA, Wisconsin International University College, the Global Institute of Planning and Sustainable Development (USA), the African Corporate Governance Network, IET-Ghana, SIGA, and the AfCFTA Secretariat, among others.
Organisers say the conference is expected to deepen conversations around Africa’s green transition while fostering cross-sector partnerships to support sustainable and inclusive growth across the continent.
