Popular Ghanaian preacher Rev. Isaac Owusu-Bempah has declared that no political figure currently matches President John Dramani Mahama’s leadership capacity, intensifying discussions surrounding a possible third-term agenda.

The Founder of Glorious Chapel made the remarks during a radio interview on Okay FM, insisting that Mahama’s governance has brought visible stability and renewed confidence in the economy.

“If President Mahama decides to step down, he should personally appoint someone for us to support, because I don’t know anyone else who can govern this country better,” he stated.

Rev. Owusu-Bempah maintained that the president’s leadership style, economic management, and commitment to national development have distinguished him from potential successors.

However, constitutional experts note that Ghana’s 1992 Constitution allows a president to serve only two terms in office. President Mahama is currently serving his second term, meaning any attempt to seek another mandate would require a constitutional amendment.

Such an amendment would need the approval of at least two-thirds of Members of Parliament, along with broader national consensus.

Despite the legal hurdles, Rev. Owusu-Bempah’s comments have reignited national debate over leadership continuity and constitutional governance in Ghana.
