The already tense New Patriotic Party (NPP) flagbearer contest has taken a sharp negative turn following public accusations of dishonesty among leading aspirants.
Presidential hopeful Kwabena Agyepong has openly accused fellow aspirant Kennedy Agyapong of lying, urging party members to “call his bluff” over claims surrounding the recently signed NPP peace pact.
In a widely circulated video, Kwabena Agyepong dismissed Kennedy Agyapong’s assertion that some aspirants improperly signed portions of the pact — allegations Kennedy used to question their integrity and fitness to lead the party.
“Let’s be honest about what happened,” Kwabena Agyepong stated. “Kennedy himself made it clear he was not comfortable signing part of the peace pact because he feared he could be shortchanged.”
According to him, Kennedy’s refusal was based on personal suspicion rather than any wrongdoing by other candidates, making the current accusations “unfair and misleading.”
The exchange has deepened concerns among party faithful that internal divisions are escalating dangerously ahead of the January 31 primaries, threatening party cohesion at a critical moment.
