Fresh controversy has emerged following the death of Ghana’s legendary Highlife musician, Daddy Lumba, as legal tensions surrounding the management of his estate continue to heighten.
In a new twist, Charlyn Fosu, one of the late musician’s daughters, has filed a misjoinder application at the Kumasi High Court, seeking the removal of her name from the letters of administration filed by her mother, Akosua Serwaa, and Daddy Lumba’s elder sister, Ernestina Fosu.
This development comes after earlier reports suggesting that Akosua Serwaa had forged Charlyn Fosu’s name and credentials in court documents without her consent.
However, in a statement on January 21, 2026, the children of the late musician dismissed those claims, insisting that their mother had not falsified any documents. They also expressed solidarity with her, describing the allegations as false and misleading.
Despite that earlier position, Charlyn Fosu formally filed the misjoinder on January 26, 2026.
Following court proceedings on the same day, her lawyer, Enoch Afoakwa, confirmed that the Kumasi High Court ruled in her favour.
According to Afoakwa, the court granted the application and ordered that Charlyn Fosu’s name be struck out of the letters of administration.
“We are in court because Daddy Lumba’s wife, Akosua Serwaa, and his sister, Ernestina Fosu, applied for letters of administration and included Charlyn Fosu’s name without her consent,” he explained.
He added that Charlyn Fosu, together with the other ten children of the late musician, had not agreed to apply for letters of administration. He noted that the children collectively support Calvin Fosu as the appropriate person to represent them should any child be included in the process.
The lawyer further revealed that the children are calling for peace and reconciliation between the two spouses involved in the dispute, stressing their desire for harmony within the family.
According to him, Charlyn Fosu believes the ongoing controversies should have diminished so the family can honour and appreciate their father’s legacy.
He added that the children are of the view that, if they are to appoint a representative to lead the legal process, it should be Lumaba’s male child (Calvin Fosu).
