Following a conflict with representatives of the National Disaster Management Organization, or NADMO, a man whose threats to commit armed robbery went viral on social media and caused national indignation has publicly apologized.As part of ongoing efforts to clear waterways and prevent floods in Greater Accra, the incident started when NADMO officers arrived at his shop, which was scheduled for demolition.The man threatened to turn into an armed robber if authorities carried out the demolition in a video that rapidly went viral online, sparking criticism from both civilians and law officials as well as social pundits.Many questioned the community’s safety and the mental health of someone eager to brandish crime in response to a legal exercise, and the outcry was swift and widespread.Social media users spread the word about it, emphasizing the risks of threatening public leaders and demanding accountability.
