Some supporters of Asante Kotoko have appealed to Congolese defender Samba Oneil to switch his nationality allegiance to play for the Black Stars ahead of the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

In a viral video sighted by GhanaWeb Sports, the supporters sighted in the video begged the Congolese defender to stay at Asante Kotoko and play for Ghana by switching his allegiance.

Asante Kotoko believes Samba has been outstanding in the ongoing 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season and will be a great addition to the Black Stars at the 2026 FIFA World Cup.

“Samba we love you don’t go. Stay here and play for the Black Stars, we will take you to the World Cup,” one Asante Kotoko supporter, kneeling before the Congolese defender said.

O’Neil has been a pivotal figure for the Porcupine Warriors, featuring in 19 matches and scoring three goals in the ongoing 2025/2026 Ghana Premier League season.
