Ayawaso East NDC race: Five aspirants to be vetted today

Five aspirants contesting for the Ayawaso East Parliamentary seat on the ticket of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) will be vetted today, Wednesday, January 28, 2026, after successfully filing their nomination forms.

The aspirants are Hajia Amina Adam, widow of the late Member of Parliament Mahama Naser Toure; Ghana’s High Commissioner to Nigeria, Mohammed Baba Jamal Ahmed; the Ayawaso East NDC Constituency Chairman, Mohammed Ramme; Dr. Yakubu Azindow; and Najib Mohammed Sani.

All five aspirants filed their nominations on Tuesday, January 27, 2026.

The Greater Accra Regional Secretary of the NDC, Theophilus Tetteh-Chaie, assured the general public during the filing process on January 27, 2026, that all the aspirants are capable and well-qualified to contest the seat.He said that the party will rally behind whoever emerges victorious from the primaries to ensure victory in the by-election.

The NDC has scheduled its parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East Constituency for Saturday, February 7, 2026.

Meanwhile, the Electoral Commission (EC) has announced that the parliamentary by-election in the Ayawaso East Constituency will be held on Tuesday, March 3, 2026.
