Sabalenka, Djokovic and Alcaraz qualify for semi-finals

The 2026 Australian Open has produced some interesting results, with the big names advancing to the semi-finals.

In the men’s singles, legendary Novak Djokovic gained automatic qualification over his Italian opponent Lorenzo Musetti after the match was cut short due to injury. After three sets, Musetti was leading (6-4, 6-3, 1-3), but the fourth and fifth sets were forfeited.

Italian Jannik Sinner showcased his superiority as he dispatched the United States’ Ben Shelton in straight sets. The game ended (6-3, 6-4, 6-4).

Spanish champion Carlos Alcaraz triumphed over Alex de Minaur with an impressive (7-5, 6-2, 6-1) victory to secure a spot in the semi-finals.

Germany’s Alexander Zverev also overcame intense competition from American Tien, winning (6-3, 6-7, 6-1, 7-6) in four sets.

The semi-finals, scheduled for January 30, 2026, will feature a blockbuster clash between Novak Djokovic and Jannik Sinner. Carlos Alcaraz will face Zverev to determine who qualifies for the final.

In the women’s singles semi-finals, world number one Aryna Sabalenka will face Ukraine’s Elina Svitolina.

The other highly anticipated match will see Jessica Pegula of the US take on Elena Rybakina in a high-stakes encounter for a place in the final.

Both matches are scheduled for January 29, 2026, in Melbourne, Australia.
