Giuliana Vigile is a referee in the Italian lower leagues

Italian football’s lower divisions are not usually the center of global attention. Serie D and Eccellenza matches are often played in modest stadiums, far from the bright lights of Serie A.

But in recent years, interest in these leagues has quietly grown and much of that buzz surrounds one name: Giuliana Vigile.

The 23-year-old assistant referee from Cesena has become an unexpected attraction in Italy’s football pyramid.

Within officiating circles, she is regarded as focused, composed, and reliable, qualities essential for climbing the refereeing ladder.

Away from the touchline, however, Giuliana leads a very different public life.

A former student of International and Diplomatic Sciences at the University of Bologna, she has also built a strong social media following, amassing more than 102,000 followers on Instagram.

There, she shares glimpses of glamorous holidays, fashion shoots, elegant dinners, and beachside moments.

Her growing profile has had a tangible effect. Reports suggest her presence has contributed to increased attendance at some lower-league fixtures, curiosity blending with genuine admiration for her professionalism.
