The minister said, “VALCO is a quiet lion that can change our country. We have big plans for its revival.”

His statement comes weeks after a 12-member inter-ministerial committee, inaugurated in November 2025 to identify a strategic investor for VALCO, submitted its report to the Minister.

The modernisation of VALCO is a key component of GIADEC’s strategy to establish a fully integrated aluminum industry in Ghana, in line with national industrial transformation objectives.

The project is expected to revitalize VALCO, enhance its annual production capacity, safeguard existing jobs, and generate thousands of new direct and indirect employment opportunities for Ghanaians, thereby restoring VALCO’s prominence and contributing to Ghana’s long-term economic prosperity.
