Ghanaian rapper Dadie Opanka has opened up about how personal growth and maturity have helped him develop resilience against negativity and disappointment.

In an interview on Joy Prime on January 29, 2026, the musician explained that he has learned to prevent people’s actions—or lack thereof—from influencing his emotions. According to him, focusing on positivity and genuine love has become more important than dwelling on hurt, betrayal, or unmet expectations.

“With growth and maturity, I’m trying to understand people. People can’t easily hurt me anymore. The fact that you didn’t help me wouldn’t hurt me. I don’t want to allow people to control my emotions,” he said.

Opanka noted that holding onto pain only gives others power over one’s happiness, a situation he now consciously avoids.

“I feel like if you hurt me and I still think about it, then you’ve taken something away from me. When something like that happens, I genuinely move on because I don’t focus on it,” he stated.

The rapper further emphasized that he deliberately chooses to remember the positive influences in his life rather than negative experiences.

“I don’t even want to remember the bad moments. I prefer to focus on positivity. There are many people in the industry who show me love, and I choose to focus on them. I like to shine light on positivity only,” he added.
