The Mama Dzigbordi Kottoh Foundation has reaffirmed its commitment to grassroots education with a visit to Fodome Woe/Agbetsido Basic School in the Hohoe Municipality of the Volta region, where it donated teaching and learning materials to enhance academic delivery and promote child welfare.
The Foundation presented the school with whiteboards, markers, pens, pencils, sanitary pads, as well as an undisclosed cash donation to support the day-to-day running of the school. The gesture was warmly received by pupils, teachers and members of the community, who expressed appreciation for the timely intervention.
Speaking during the presentation, Mama Dzigbordi Kottoh, founder of the Foundation, underscored the Foundation’s shared commitment with the school to improving access to quality education, while safeguarding the welfare of children, particularly the girl child. She noted that education remains a powerful tool for transformation when coupled with care, encouragement and opportunity.
In line with its vision of ensuring that every child has access to quality education and that every girl child is safe, empowered and able to reach her full potential, the Foundation continues to implement initiatives that directly improve learning outcomes at the basic level.
The Foundation’s mission centres on promoting access to quality education and advancing the well-being of the girl child through learning opportunities, advocacy and sustained support that enable children to thrive academically, socially and emotionally.
Mama Dzigbordi Kottoh IV, who is the queen mother of Fodome Woe of the Gbi Traditional Area, also announced the introduction of an award scheme aimed at motivating academic excellence among pupils. Under the initiative, awards will be presented to the best-performing students in Mathematics, English and Science, as well as the Overall Best Student at the school.
In addition, a Teachers Appreciation Day has been instituted to recognise and celebrate the dedication, sacrifice and hard work of teachers who continue to shape young minds despite the challenges they face.
The visit and donations by the Mama Dzigbordi Kottoh Foundation mark a significant step towards nurturing talent, promoting gender equity and strengthening education at the community level, leaving lasting smiles and renewed hope at Fodome Woe/Agbetsido Basic School.
