Former Minister for Trade and Industry, Alan Kwadwo Kyerematen, has sought the blessings of the Monarch of the Asante Kingdom, Otumfuo Osei Tutu II, for a blissful year.
The leader of the United Party (UP) joined the first Akwasidae Festival of the year held at the Manhyia Palace in Kumasi on February 1, 2026.
“As the year begins, it is befitting that we come to get the blessings of the King to embark on our endeavours for the year,” he said through a spokesperson.

The auspicious occasion was opened with a display by the Police Royal Ladies of the Ghana Police Service in honour of the Asantehene.
The occasion drew together other dignitaries and officials from across the country, including the Ashanti Regional Minister, Dr Frank Amoakohene, the former Attorney-General, Betty Mould-Iddrisu, and 2024 Vice Presidential Candidate of the New Patriotic Party (NPP), Matthew Opoku Prempeh.
Also present were delegations from the Bank of Ghana (BoG), Stanbic Bank, Prudential Bank, the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST), the Grand Lodge, Boankra Inland Port, Attarchy Construction, Hill Top Executive Keep Fit Fun Club, Bawumia Campaign, Ghana Cooperative Credit Union, Asanteman Australia and others.
