President Mahama to participate in World Governments Summit 2026 in Dubai

President John Dramani Mahama on Sunday, 1 February, departed Accra for Dubai in the United Arab Emirates (UAE) at the invitation of His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan, the Ruler of the UAE.

The visit will enable the President to participate in the World Governments Summit 2026, scheduled to take place from 2 to 4 February.

A statement issued by Mr Felix Kwakye Ofosu, Presidential Spokesman and Minister in‑charge of Government Communications, said President Mahama would travel on a special aircraft provided by the Ruler of the UAE.

The aircraft will subsequently convey the President and his delegation to Zambia to begin a State Visit from 4th to 6th February at the invitation of Zambian President Hakainde Hichilema.

The statement added that President Mahama would be accompanied by his wife, the First Lady, Mrs Lordina Dramani Mahama.

During the State Visit to Zambia, President Mahama is expected to hold bilateral talks with President Hichilema on matters of mutual interest, including strengthening diplomatic relations, boosting trade and investment cooperation, and exploring collaborative opportunities under the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).

A major highlight of the visit will be President Mahama’s address to the National Assembly of Zambia, where he is expected to outline Ghana’s vision for a more integrated and prosperous Africa.
