Seasoned Ghanaian broadcaster Israel Laryea has jumped to the defence of his wife, after she came under public backlash for body-shaming TV personality Lily Mohammed over the latter’s controversial editorial last week.

In a Facebook post, he insisted that his wife’s comment was misinterpreted.

“Unfortunately, we can all agree that you can’t control how people choose to interpret a post. Louisa further clarifies that she never sought to infer that Lily Mohammed had bleached or done BBL because she does not know her. If Lily felt offended, sorry, but that was definitely not the intention,” he wrote.

He also tackled people who felt his wife was physically unattractive.

“There are also those who say Louisa is ugly. Really? This woman, right here at 52 years old after giving birth to three children, is ugly? Create a human, let’s see how you fare.”

The “troll storm” started with Lilly’s controversial editorial on the issuance of a Ghanaian passport to YouTube sensation IShowSpeed.

Her variation was fiercely opposed by Louisa, who emphasised, “journalism goes way beyond make-up, skin bleaching, BBL, hair and fashion…”

The comment did not go down well with Lilly, as she felt body-shamed and clapped back with a post that partly read, “I do hope you take a good look at yourself in the mirror the next time you want to be as condescending as you have been with your distasteful post.”
