Veteran highlife musician Akosua Agyapong has accused former MUSIGA President Obour of neglecting elderly musicians who sought financial support during his time in office.

During a TikTok Live session on February 1, 2026, Agyapong alleged that although Obour organised high-profile dinner events purportedly to support aged musicians, the beneficiaries never received meaningful financial assistance.

“You, Obour, used to hold dinner events and sell tables. Many people used to attend the events because you did it for the aged. How much money did you ever give to the aged?” she asked.

According to her, several elderly musicians personally visited Obour’s residence to request financial support but were instead offered food rather than cash assistance.

“They came to your house for their money, and you cooked food for them to eat instead. Some even left and went home. They were not hungry. They were coming for the monies given to them. But you organised a party instead,” she alleged.

Agyapong’s comments have reignited public debate about transparency, accountability, and the welfare of ageing musicians within Ghana’s music industry, especially amid ongoing concerns about royalty distribution and leadership within music institutions.
