The Kumasi Metropolitan Assembly (KMA) has announced a halt in commercial activities in the metropolis until 12 pm on Saturday, February 7, 2026.
This will make way for a massive clean-up exercise in consonance with the government’s sanitation efforts.
The sanitation exercise is expected to start at 6 am and end at 12noon.
“In view of that, all trading and commercial activities within the Metropolis are to remain closed until 12noon while individuals and corporate entities participate fully,” the Assembly directed in a statement.
It has also restricted the operations of commercial vehicles during the stipulated period around the following areas:
-Labour Roundabout through to Asafo Interchange to A-Life, Abinkye to GRA.
-Don Kirk through Asafo Interchange to Ahmadiyya
-Roundabout, Santasi
-Roundabout to Santasi Market, Suame Roundabout through Abrepo Junction to Sofoline Interchange, and Sofoline Interchange to Bekwal Roundabout.
It urged residents, traders, corporate entities, commercial drivers, and the public to comply with the directive.
