The Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has called on Members of Parliament to prioritise unity, respect, and constructive debate as the House begins a new sitting.
He said political differences must never obstruct national progress or undermine public confidence in Parliament.
Mr Ayariga acknowledged that robust debate was essential to democracy but cautioned against unnecessary confrontation.
He said Ghanaians expected solutions from their representatives, not gridlock or political theatre.
“Differences of opinion enrich our democracy,” he told the House, “but division must never obstruct national progress. Ghanaians expect solutions, not stalemate.”
He urged both the Majority and Minority Caucuses to be guided by patriotism and a shared commitment to national development.
According to him, Parliament’s credibility depended on the quality of its debates and the outcomes of its work.
“As we begin this session, let us legislate with wisdom, oversee with courage, and debate with respect,” Mr Ayariga said.
“The people of Ghana are watching, and they are counting on us to deliver.”
