The Majority Leader, Mahama Ayariga, has dismissed attempts by the opposition to rebrand their political record, insisting that Ghanaians will judge leaders based on lived experience and measurable outcomes rather than rhetoric.

The Bawku Central lawmaker said recent political developments did not erase the economic hardship experienced by citizens in recent years.

Speaking during the resumption of parliamentary sittings, Mr Ayariga congratulated the New Patriotic Party on the election of former Vice President of Ghana, Dr Mahamudu Bawumia, as its flagbearer.

However, he cautioned against portraying the development as a fresh start for the party.

“This is not a new beginning; it is a repackaging of the same administration, the same economic ideas, and the same record that pushed this nation to the edge,” the Majority Leader stated.

“You cannot rewrite recent history, and you cannot rebrand responsibility away.”

Mr Ayariga said Ghanaians had endured high inflation, currency instability, and rising costs of living, experiences that could not be erased by campaign messaging.

He argued that credibility in governance was earned through consistent results, not political rebranding.
