Former president Akufo-Addo has expressed optimism that former vice president, Dr. Bawumia, will win the 2028 general election.
Akufo-Addo took to his official Facebook page to post pictures of himself with Dr. Bawumia and his wife, stating in the caption that the duo paid him a visit in his office.
The former president threw back to 18 years ago, when he chose Dr. Bawumia as his flagbearer, noting that the latter is loyal, has good character, and is extremely diligent.
He went on to state that, with the full support of the NPP and Ghanaians at large, he is optimistic that Dr. Bawumia would lead the NPP to victory in the 2028 general election.
He wrote;
Newly-minted flagbearer of our great party, Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia and his spouse, Hajia Samira Bawumia, paid a courtesy call on me yesterday, 3rd February, 2026.
Eighteen years ago, I chose Dr. Mahamudu Bawumia as my running mate. We stood side by side through four elections. I know his mind, his character, his love for Ghana, and his appetite for hard work. He is loyal to the party and country. With the full support of our rank and file and the continued generosity of our supporters, I know that he will lead us back to victory.
