President John Dramani Mahama has arrived in Lusaka, Zambia, for a three-day state visit at the invitation of his Zambian counterpart, President Hakainde Hichilema.
President Mahama, who is accompanied by his wife, First Lady Lordina Dramani Mahama, was received on arrival at the Kenneth Kaunda International Airport by President Hichilema. Ghana’s High Commissioner to Zambia, Madam Elizabeth Nyantakyi, was also present to welcome the President.
The visit is expected to strengthen diplomatic ties between Ghana and Zambia, with President Mahama scheduled to hold bilateral talks with President Hichilema on issues of mutual interest.
Discussions will focus on deepening cooperation in trade and investment, as well as exploring collaborative opportunities within the framework of the African Continental Free Trade Area (AfCFTA).
As part of the visit, President Mahama is expected to lay a wreath at Embassy Park in Lusaka in honour of Zambia’s fallen heroes. He will also address the National Assembly of Zambia, where he is expected to share Ghana’s vision for a more integrated and prosperous Africa.
The President will further engage with members of the Ghanaian community in Lusaka, interacting with Ghanaians living and working in Zambia.
A key highlight of the visit will be the Ghana–Zambia Business Dialogue, co-chaired by Presidents Mahama and Hichilema.
The forum will provide a platform for Ghana to showcase its digital technologies and fintech services to Zambian businesses and government institutions, aimed at fostering economic partnerships and knowledge exchange.
President Mahama’s visit underscores his commitment to advancing an Africa that is closely connected through improved transport infrastructure, expanded trade linkages, and the free movement of people and goods.
The President is accompanied by a high-level delegation, including the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Samuel Okudzeto Ablakwa; Executive Secretary to the President, Dr Callistus Mahama; Presidential Adviser and Special Aide to the President, Mrs Joyce Bawa Mogtari; and Deputy Chief of Staff in charge of Operations, Stan Xoese Dogbe.
Other members of the delegation are the Presidential Spokesperson and Minister of Government Communications, Felix Kwakye Ofosu; the Minister of Education, Haruna Iddrisu; the Minister for Communication, Digital Technology and Innovations, Samuel Nartey George; and the Minister for Gender, Children and Social Protection, Dr Agnes Naa Momo Lartey.
