The National Democratic Congress (NDC) has strongly condemned alleged incidents of inducement and vote buying during the party’s parliamentary primaries in the Ayawaso East constituency held today, February 7, 2026.
In a statement issued by the party’s National Secretariat, the NDC said the attention of its national executives had been drawn to reports of widespread bribery allegedly perpetrated by some aspirants participating in the primaries.
The party described the alleged acts as a direct violation of its core values and principles, stating that such conduct undermines the party’s “reset agenda.”
“The party vehemently condemns these actions in no uncertain terms,” the statement said, stressing that inducement and vote buying have no place in the internal democratic processes of the NDC.
The party announced that it has immediately instituted a full-scale investigation into the allegations and assured that swift action would be taken against any candidate found culpable.
The NDC further warned that going forward, tougher sanctions would be enforced to deter similar conduct, including the possible cancellation of elections where such incidents are established.
The statement was signed by the General Secretary of the party, Hon. Fifi Fiavi Kwetey, who reaffirmed the party’s commitment to upholding discipline, integrity, and fairness in all its internal elections.
