KNUST student dies after falling from hostel building

A second-year student of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) has died after falling from a storey-building of his hostel.

The deceased, identified as Ransford Amankwah Asomani, was a level 200 student offering a Bachelor of Science (BSc) degree in Agribusiness Management programme.

He fell from the hostel located outside the campus of the university at Ayeduase on Sunday, February 8, 2026.

He was taken to the university hospital by his colleagues with support from the police patrol team but was pronounced dead on arrival.

In a statement dated Monday, February 9, 2026, the University Relations Officer, Dr Daniel Norris Bekoe said the parents of the deceased have been informed.

“The KNUST police in collaboration with the university security services have commenced investigations into the incident. Management will provide further updates to the media and the public as soon as all the facts are established,” he stated.
