Abdul Karim Zito has stepped down from his position as Head Coach of Asante Kotoko following the club’s Round of 16 exit from the MTN FA Cup.

The Porcupine Warriors have faced a rough patch lately, securing just one victory in their last five outings.

Zito exits with Kotoko placed fifth on the Ghana Premier League table, eight points behind league leaders Medeama SC.

The club confirmed his decision in a statement posted on its social media pages on February 9, 2026.

“Abdul Karim Zito Kabutey has resigned from his role as Head Coach of Asante Kotoko Sporting Club with immediate effect. Management has accepted the resignation, expressed its appreciation to the coach for his services and wished him the best in his future endeavours,” the statement read.

Appointed in July 2025, Zito went on to guide Kotoko to success in the 2024/25 MTN FA Cup.

Asante Kotoko are expected to unveil a new Head Coach in the coming days.
