Second year KNUST student falls to death

Management of the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology, KNUST, has confirmed the death of one of its students, Ransford Amankwaa Asamani, after allegedly falling from the 2nd floor of a private hostel.

A Statement signed and issued to the media by the Deputy Registrar in charge of the University Relations, Dr. Daniel Norris Bekoe, noted that the incident occurred on Sunday February 8, 2026 off campus where the deceased lived.

The Statement indicated that the deceased, a student pursuing BSc Agribusiness Management, fell from the private hostel in the early morning and was rushed to the KNUST Hospital by his colleagues but was pronounced dead on arrival.

The Statement said the Ghana Police Service, with support by the University security service have begun investigation into circumstances of the incident.

The remains have been deposited at the morgue of the KNUST Hospital pending autopsy and comprehensive investigations.

It expressed the condolence of the KNUST to the bereaved family and that the parents have been duly informed of the incident.

The statement affirmed the commitment of the University to the safety, security and well-being of all of its students and staff.
