The angry party executives locked the offices and the main gate with their own padlocks
Disgruntled executives of the National Democratic Congress (NDC) in the Tema Central constituency have reportedly locked up the National Health Insurance Scheme (NHIS) office in the area, protesting what they described as unfair and exclusionary appointment processes.
Speaking to JoyNews on February 10, 2026, the Constituency Chairman, Benjamin Jakuma, who led the action, argued that grassroots members who contributed to the party’s successes have been sidelined in the appointment process.

He stated that many party loyalists are more than qualified to be considered for positions at the Tema NHIS office.
“We have our executives who have the qualifications to be there, but are always ignored. If the right thing is done, we will end the protest. A lot of appointments are being done in the wrong direction without consultations. We cannot work for them to come and sit down and do whatever they prefer to those who brought the party to power,” he cautioned.
The Constituency Secretary, Henry Davidson Ayeh, echoed the same concerns, stating that party executives feel taken for granted despite their commitment and loyalty to the party.
“It is becoming one too many, so this morning, we decided to lock this place up until the right thing is done, so work can continue. If not, aluta continua. We talk about things, and we are told it will be done, but it still continues in the same fashion from a particular direction. It means it’s not best for the party.

“There hasn’t been a single meeting that we have been involved in the appointment of anybody to the assembly or any position within the metroship, and that is our problem. We want to tell the appropriate authorities that this appointment must be reversed,” Ayeh lamented.
