Asante Kotoko go into this weekend’s Super Clash against Hearts of Oak knowing anything less than victory could further dent their title hopes, with the Porcupine Warriors currently eight points behind league leaders Medeama SC.

The encounter will be Prince Owusu’s first match in charge as caretaker coach following the resignation of Abdul Karim Zito after Kotoko’s MTN FA Cup Round of 16 exit last weekend.

Speaking ahead of the fixture, Owusu admitted concern over his side’s struggles in front of goal. Kotoko have found the net just four times in their last six matches, a return the new coach believes must improve if they are to get back on track.

“It is worrying. It’s something we must work on and improve,” Owusu said. “We’ve identified the problem and we’ll spend more time this week sharpening our goalscoring.”
