The Yilo Krobo Municipal Assembly in the Eastern Region has handed over five Community-Based Health Planning and Services (CHPS) compounds to the management of the Ghana Health Service (GHS).

The gesture, in collaboration with the Member of Parliament for the Yilo Krobo Constituency, Albert Tetteh Nyakotey and supervised by the Regional Minister, Rita Akosua Adjei Awatey, aims to promote quality healthcare for the people.

The beneficiary communities are Aketebour, Aboabo, Klo-Agogo, Aboa Osuboninya and Akorwu Bana, all rural communities in the upper part of the municipality.

At the inauguration and handover of the facilities to the Ghana Health Service, the Eastern Regional Minister, Mrs Awatey, assured the people in the Krobo enclave and Ghanaians in general that the government was committed to providing quality healthcare to every Ghanaian, irrespective of location.

“Our President John Dramani Mahama and his National Democratic Congress (NDC) Party which is in government now has the health of every Ghanaian at heart irrespective of the location in the country and wants every cottage, village, town and city to have good and quality health facility that will take good care of the citizens in case of ill health,” she said.

She lauded the Yilo Municipal Chief Executive, Francis Addo Akumatey and the Member of Parliament, Mr Nyakotey, for their unity and cooperation in the interests of the Yilo Krobo citizens in their quest for quality healthcare.

‘’When there is unity and cooperation between the MCE and the MP, supervised and closely monitored by the regional minister, the result is the community development we are seeing now in our own interest,’’ the regional minister emphasised.

The Yilo Municipal Chief Executive, Mr Addo, advised the various beneficiary communities to cooperate with the health workers posted to the facilities and not to challenge them in their professional duties.

‘’They are professionals fully trained as qualified health workers and therefore they know what to do at what time.

If you have a personal health challenge, discuss it with them and not challenge it, which will lead to confrontation,’’ the MCE advised.

Mr Nyakotey pledged to establish a radio station at Klo-Agogo to serve all communities in the upper part of the constituency, keeping them abreast of current events through news.
